London Bound!

Tuesday May 11th - I hopped onto my first plane ride ever and I was heading to London. Sandra and I had an early flight, we had to be at Pearson by 6am. Definitely the earliest I had been up in months after two semesters at university. We got onto our flight and I grabbed the window seat - eager to catch a view of pretty much everything. We got lucky and our flight ended up being fairly empty and Sandra and I were both able to have our own bank of seats. The flight itself was pretty great with the exception of being diverted over Iceland because of the volcanic ash cloud which added on about an hour to the flight. This ash cloud in Iceland had been creating travel havoc over the past couple weeks and we were lucky the volcano had settled down so we could fly over. A few days after our arrival in London it started up again, I was thankful that we made it overseas! We were able to see the Iceland Mountains from the air which the pilot told us was a "once in a life time opportunity" which was pretty cool. We finally arrived at Heathrow around 10pm London time. By the time we cleared customs and grabbed the tube, it was 11:30 by the time we reached the Royal National - our home for the next 4 nights. I was starving and not a happy camper. RN was comparable to my dorm room first year of Uni and when I went to find some food the only thing I could find was some chips and gravy - definitely not what I was hoping to have as my first meal in London. After our midnight meal Sandra was off to bed but I couldn't sleep. The time change really got to me, I ended up staying up until about 4am watching horrible but hilarious british tv.
